Wild Tomato writes: Damian and Stephanie Salvatore, owners of Bethesda’s beloved Persimmon, wanted to go back to the roots of the food they really loved. Classic, enjoyed by everyone, and exploring culinary influences from all over. They wanted a great place to eat where family and friends could truly enjoy coming together. They picked a spot off the beaten path, in Cabin John; a neighborhood looking for something just like this. This dream restaurant would be a place to grab a pizza with the kids, have a beer or glass of wine with a friend, or enjoy a composed entrée for a more special occasion. Choosing the perfect name for a warm community bistro with a charismatic and free-spirited staff serving tasty favorites was a bit of a challenge, but when they heard 'Wild Tomato' it planted itself, and began to come to life. Damian and Stephanie made sure to choose their staff from people close to them. Megan Darnall, the GM of Persimmon, had been with the company for 7 years prior to spearheading Wild Tomato's opening, and now balances her time between both restaurants. Front of House Manager Tammy Guice, formerly of Addie’s, is a long-time acquaintance of Stephanie’s and was eager to join the Wild Tomato family. On the food front, Head Chef Johnny Rose-Wood had a two and a half year tenure in Persimmon's kitchen, and, along with expert culinary stylings, was able to bring many of Persimmon’s influences to Wild Tomato’s eclectic menu.
